MVK’s contingent at Vancouver Pride 2008

We’ve created a photo pool on Flickr for pictures of our contingent in the Vancouver Pride parade and our booth at Pride festival. MVK would like to thank our partners and sponsors for their contributions, and the volunteers and board members who put on a great show and raised our organization’s profile in Vancouver. BJ, our vice-president and volunteer coordinator, has resigned from his positions with MVK to pursue life as a private citizen for a while. He looks forward to volunteering with MVK again in the future, and wishes the board the best of luck.

MVK’s board of directors thanks BJ for his many hours of hard work and other contributions to this organization since its beginning, and we wish him the best in his future endeavours.

MVK wants you for Pride 2008!

We invite one and all to be a part of MVK’s first Pride Parade. We’re partnering with our friends at VASM and other community groups to represent the Vancouver kink community. We want you to join our Kink Contingent on Pride Sunday, August 3rd, and celebrate with us.

We need volunteers for setting up our contingent, which includes decorating our vehicles and ourselves. Setup is at 9:00 AM on Robson near Bidwell (we’ll let you know exactly where next week when we get our Parade position assigned).

No matter what, we really want to see you marching with us, even if you can’t help set up. Your participation will be fabulous!

We will provide water and goodies, and the opportunity to show your kink and leather Pride. Interpret the theme “Three Generations of Leather Pride” however you see fit. We will have room in our vehicle for 3 people at any time. Those who use mobility aids are welcome.

Fetish wear is very welcome, including leather, latex, lingerie, PVC, uniforms, costumes and masks. The only limit is no genitals on display. Pride flags, Leather Pride flags and Bear Pride flags are encouraged. Be sure to bring water bottles and sun block.

Marchers meet at 11:00 AM, Sunday August 3rd, on Robson near Bidwell (we’ll let you know exactly where next week when we get our Parade position assigned).

We also need people to staff our booth at Sunset Beach Pride Festival, You’ll be answering questions, handing out literature and joining us in the middle of the biggest party in the West End. We need people to do 2-hour shifts from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, and to help with teardown at 6:00pm.
